This web page of maps of Nemaha County that  was  surveyed at in 1855 to 1859 before Kansas  became a state.  The first maps of the Nemaha County was layer out in several configurations.   The map below is the same location and domination as the Townships are today however they were different configurations with some larger. I do not know of all the different definitions.

 There are  trails on these maps other than  the Overland tail and the Military trail out of Fort Leavenworth, some are trails the out of Nebraska, Local Trail of settlers and Indian trails. Click on the individual townships maps to open. There were a few settlers in the area when this area survey was done in  1855 when this survey begin and these names show up on the map and the farm do also.. 

The St. Joseph -- California  trail interred Nemaha County in Rock Creek township and left through Clear Creek and also later Marion Township.  Follow the trail to the west by clicking on Rock Creek Township for St. Joseph - California - Oregon Trail through Nemaha county.

The Military trail entered Nemaha County through Granada Township and exits through Marion Township.  Follow the trail west by clicking on Granada Township.
